Tropical dreams

The invisible dragon flew over Missouri, with the magician riding on his broad shoulders.

They flew in low over one of the towns, noticing a woman muttering to herself as she tapped a message into her smartphone. "I can't go somewhere warm, so I'll make food from tropical places & pretend I'm there!"

The magician and the invisible dragon grinned at each other. The magician cast a tiny spell, and a reply appeared: "It's obvious you need an invisible dragon to fly you to a nice island somewhere…"

She looked at the message, and broke out in a smile, then replied. "If I could use any mode of travel, I'd definitely choose to travel on a dragon's back!"

The dragon spoke to his father. "Can we help her, do you think?"
The magician rubbed his chin, then broke out in a smile. "I'm sure we can!" He cast another small spell, and they flew onwards.

Later that day, she prepared a feast for herself as she had promised. Tropical fruit, nuts, iced tea, the works. As she lovingly placed each morsel on the plate, she sensed her mood lighten, like the sun was shining on her and she was a little closer to the equator.

Then, she took a small bite of pineapple. The room went a little misty for a moment, so intense was the pleasure.

She heard a knock at the window. Who would knock at my window? Sunbeams were streaming in like a pathway to heaven. The bad weather must have passed. She crossed to the window, opened it wide….

…and heard a soft whisper. "Invisible dragon airways, ready and waiting to take you to a tropical island."

The sunbeams seemed to be forming a little stairway, up and out of the window. "Do I climb these steps?"

The invisible voice again. "Yes, and then you can ride on my shoulders. We have a short flight to make."

She climbed the stairs out of the window, and seated herself on the invisible dragon's shoulders. He rose into the air, and they soared over Central America, and onward to a mysterious island somewhere lost in the South Pacific. "Are you enjoying the flight?"
She was thrilled. "This is amazing. Where are we going?"

The invisible dragon's voice drifted back to her. "The places you dream of."

The began to glide downward, and landed on a white sandy beach, with crystal blue waves caressing the shore. She dismounted, and found a table on the sand laden with delicious fruits, and a surprise in the centre. "Oh wow! Belgian chocolate!" Then she voiced an afterthought. "I didn't think Belgian chocolate was tropical…?"

The dragon grinned and invisible grin. "This is your dream."

She turned to face him. "Thank you for bringing me here."

He was very happy to see her so happy. "You're welcome."

A new thought crossed her mind. "I want to stay here forever. Will I ever have to leave?"

The dragon cast a gaze across the wide blue ocean. "No. Only if you give up on your dreams."
The tropical dreamer is alive and well and living in Missouri
