Watching over the boy child

The dragon had been taking Ryn flying more and more, here and there, nowhere in particular. He felt comfortable showing the boy the magic of his world.

Ryn's parents noticed more and more how much their little boy smiled. His father called him a smile-head. Ryn's smile seemed to cast a magic spell over everyone, filling them with delight.
Jena saw the dragon hovering over Ryn and his parents one sunny afternoon. Her voice sounded out like a piano melody as she landed on his shoulder. "What are you looking at, great dragon?"
"He makes his parents so happy..." Everyone could see how happy Ryn's parents were with their beautiful son.

Jena could sense the ancient ones were watching. She spoke ancient, mystical wisdom on their behalf. "He shares the magic of the universe with them. Without words. Only with pure love."
The dragon spoke without taking his gaze from the family. "Will Ryn always be this carefree? Will he always smile so much?"
Jena waited a few moments before responding. "Magic is free will in its highest form. If he chooses a carefree, happy path ...so it will be..."
The dragon thought for a moment. "Can I do more to help him choose a path like this, good fairy?"
Jena's eyes sparkled. "Free will, good dragon. Don't help him choose. Leave him to choose of his own free will..."

The ancient ones, from far above, watched over the fairy godmother, who watched over the dragon, who was watching over Ryn's parents, who were watching over the boy child.
