She called the family together for a discussion. "OK, Mommy has something to tell you."
The children became quiet. Her husband's raised eyebrows showed he was curious too.
She took a deep breath and continued. "Mommy has been on some fantastic adventures. I go flying on an invisible dragon, to tropical islands. Beautiful places with white beaches and blue water, and even Belgian Chocolate! And sometimes my favorite TV star turns up to go wakeboarding. A magician told me the people who keep love flowing throughout the Universe have named me Christina BraveStar."
She had a big smile on her face, that began to fade in the resulting long stunned silence.
Finally one of her children spoke up. "Mommy, have you gone crazy?"
Another of the smaller ones whispered. "I think maybe she needs a Psycho-papagist."
She realized the task was hopeless. "OK everyone, just a joke. Go outside and play. Don't kill yourselves. I love you very much."
The family filed out of the room and back to their day. She noticed the bemused look on her husband's face...
...He was generally a hard-headed man. They called him the Reverend, because he was revered. A good man.
Later that night, when the children were asleep, he spoke with his wife. "Remember our little family discussion today?"
She wanted to bury the whole fiasco as quickly as possible. "What discussion? Oh yes, that. Just a bit of fun gone wrong. Forget it."
He looked at her, and remembered all the fun times they had shared. "I believe you."
…but he had been eavesdropping outside the window anyway. He grinned a big invisible grin, then spread his wings and rose quietly into the night sky over Missouri.
Dreams and adventures are everywhere, he was off to find another.
