Raining in Paris

Christina BraveStar was not happy. "It’s rainy, overcast, and downright yucky outside.  The damp air chills you to the bone!"
Then she remembered - adventures come when you dream with all your heart. "Invisible dragon! Adventures now!" She closed her eyes tight, and waited…

…and was a moment later flying above the clouds on his enormous invisible back!

He craned his neck around to speak with her. "Where are we going today?"
She grinned. "Downright yucky weather reminds me of Paris. So that's where we'll go!" She gave him a slap on his invisible scaly neck to give him a gee-up.

He wasn't impressed. "You don't have to slap me. I'm a dragon, not a horse. I speak english, I know where Paris is…"
She felt a little foolish. "Sorry dragon. English directions only from now on." Then, an afterthought. "Do you speak french?"
He had already started zooming over the Atlantic towards France. "Un peu."
She was impressed. A multi-lingual invisible dragon!

They arrived over the city of Paris, and soared over blue rooftops and white sculpted buildings."Drop me off in the Latin Quarter, invisible dragon."
The dragon coasted down. "I see a place to land."
He set down in a small jardin with a statue in a fountain, near to the Seine. She dismounted, and looked around. The flying buttresses of Notre Dame were just across the river. "Thank you, dragon. I'll walk from here."

It was a damp, overcast day. She bought herself a coffee and a croissant, and an umbrella, then wandered toward Luxembourg Gardens. As she arrived, she heard familiar operatic voices singing. "Guido! Ricardo!"
Her two friends greeted her warmly. "Christina. Ciao Bella!"
She was overjoyed to see them, and had news. "Christina BraveStar if you please. The Ancient Ones gave me a new name."
Ricardo was curious. "The Ancient who?"
She thought from a moment, and realized and explanation was too far out. "Doesn't matter. You guys are here. Do you want to take a stroll to the Eiffel Tower with me?"
Guido looked at the sky. "In this weather? That's no short walk..."
Christina overcame all objections with her enthusiasm for Paris, in any weather. "I have only a little time. Come on!"

So they walked, and talked. The men sang songs, and they stopped for a delicious french meal in a small restaurant. Every moment was a breathtaking adventure through a world and culture Christina cherished.

As they arrived at the Eiffel Tower, Ricardo and Guido bid her farewell. "It's getting late. Many things to do. Spending a day with you is always a good day."
Christina realized her time in this adventure was over too. "Thank you for walking with me. This has been a perfect day."

They said their goodbyes, and she wandered to a quiet open space in the gardens around the tower. The invisible dragon had been keeping watch over her, and was waiting. He whispered to her. "Ready to leave?"
She nodded, then hesitated. "Wait a minute, won't be long."
She took a moment to give her umbrella to a rain-drenched tourist nearby.

Returning, she scrambled onto his invisible shoulders. "Time to fly home. Other dreams await."
With a beat of his wings, they rose into the sky.
