The flying Dutchwoman

The invisible dragon rose into the skies over Holland with the flying Dutchwoman, leaving her home in Hoofddorp far below. She was ecstatic. "There's a new me coming out, and I just have to live!"
He craned his neck around and made a suggestion. "Shall we do a little sightseeing?"
She was ready for anything. "I'm in for the long ride!"
He swooped down toward the old town of Amsterdam, zooming along the Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht canals.
Then he turned south east, hooking around the windmill that oversees the centre of Leiden, and onward to the Hague. A patchwork of tulip fields was laid out between the cities. "You live in a beautiful part of the world."
Just the beginning of their adventure had already taken the flying Dutchwoman's breath away. "Yes, good dragon. You're right."
:::
They flew the short distance over the North Sea, and then up to Scotland. Lynne was ready and waiting when they arrived at her home. "Fabby Dragon! You're here! Let's go! Can I ride on your tail?"
The young dragon was overawed by her enthusiasm. "Sure… but why?"
She leapt onto his tail to explain. "Look, if I grab the end of your tail behind me like this and push it this way… then you go left, and if I push your tail this way… then you go right, and I get to steer!"
The dragon was not quite as enthusiastic as before. "I'm not a rowboat, Lynne."
Nothing could dampen her enthusiasm. "No! You are a dragtabulous invisible dragon! Now just fly! We have places to go!"

As they rose into the air and flew over the rocky Scottish highlands the dragon whispered through an invisible grin to the flying Dutchwoman. "You are still the boss of this adventure, OK?"
:::
Soaring over the North Atlantic, they zoomed down the St Laurence estuary and beyond the Great Lakes to Ontario. Stephanie was all set to join them. "Hi dragon! Can I sit up the front?"
The young invisible dragon's ears tinged a little at the memory of their last adventure over the Swiss Alps. "Erm... you can sit behind the flying Dutchwoman."
She pouted. "But I want to sit at the front!"
The dragon put on his best 'customer service' voice. "All seats on Dragon Air 1 have been carefully allocated for your comfort. Please take your place behind the flying Dutchwoman."
She crossed her arms and eyeballed him, Canadian style. "No!"
He tried to reason with her. "Please Stephanie, I'm 4 years old and I know all about flying lots of nice people around the world. Please…"
A slightly uncomfortable silence ensued. Lynne and the flying Dutchwoman diplomatically thumb-twiddled. Finally the proud Canadienne gave in. "Oh alright." She leapt onto his back, and settled in. "Ready for take off!"

They lifted off and headed west. Crossing the northern end of the Rockies the flying Dutchwoman leaned forward and whispered. "I like the front seat. Thank you, kind dragon."
:::
Soon they descended toward Cat McMahon's beautiful garden in Oregon. Cloaked by the dragon's invisibility, they all called out to her in a hubbub of voices. "Are you ready Cat? Got everything?"
She was beaming with joy. "I've got my camera, sunglasses… All set!"
Lynne helped with the seating arrangements. "You can sit in front of me." She yanked the end of the dragon's tail to the left, and he obediently swung his tail to the left.
With a little leap into the air Cat vanished, now also cloaked by the dragon's invisibility. "OK, I'm on board. Beautiful adventures await!" They rose into the sky and turned south.

Dodger, the pet cat of the McMahon's, had been staring open mouthed since the invisible voices had started speaking with his mistress. Having just witnessed Cat vanish mysteriously into thin air, he promptly fainted, wondering which of his nine lives had just transpired.
:::
Arriving over New Mexico, the invisible dragon spotted a bright sparkle of light, and swooped down to the casita of the invisible dragon tamer. She smiled up at him, 'seeing' him outlined in the ether. "Is destiny seeking the dragon?"
He grinned down at her. "You're so deep, precious dragon tamer. Climb aboard!"
She hesitated a moment. "Can we pick up a friend in Albuquerque?"
The dragon turned to the flying Dutchwoman. "You're the boss of this adventure. Can we?"

She was so overwhelmed by their adventure she just nodded agreeably. After a few minutes of silence she realized she was invisible like everyone else sitting on the dragon's back, and because she could not be seen she had to say something to be understood. "That would be wonderful."
:::
The dragon tamer climbed aboard, and they made a short hop to find a friend.
Shannon looked up from her perfect day. "Beautiful people and a dragon! What are you doing here?"
The dragon hovered above. "You always share such beautiful thoughts. I followed them to find you. Do you want to come on an adventure with us?"
Did she ever. "Yes! Where to…?"
:::
Jeanne and Anthony were enjoying the late afternoon sunshine sitting on the end of Santa Monica Pier. They could hear the voices of people singing off in the distance, coming closer and closer.
"I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky…"

Anthony looked at his wife. "Jeanne, have you told anyone where we are?"
She looked sheepishly back at him. "Just a few friends, and the invisible dragon."

The pier was crowded, so all the passengers on this particular Dragon Air 1 flight dismounted carefully when no-one was looking, and materialized into California-time.
Lynne and Jeanne hugged, a few introductions were made...

...and a fabulous time was had by all.
:::

Toward sunset the invisible dragon found the flying Dutchwoman gazing out over the water in a reverie. "Let me know when you are ready to go back to your beautiful part of the world. I can take everyone home again."
His voice was close, so she knew he was right beside her. "Thank you, good dragon. Dank u wel. I'll let you know. But for now, I want to stay in this dreamy part of the world a little longer…"
